Lead Engineer

About VibeMA

VibeMA is an AI-powered marketing intelligence platform that consolidates data from Google Ads, Meta, GA4, and HubSpot, then delivers actionable insights through a conversational Slack bot, an admin dashboard, and a read-only React data browser.

We replace 15–20 hours of weekly manual reporting for marketing teams managing $100K+ per month in ad spend. Instead of dashboards no one reads, VibeMA surfaces what matters, when it matters, directly in Slack.

We are pre-launch and moving fast. You will be the first technical hire, working directly with the founder and a supporting development agency to ship the MVP in 4 months and scale from there.

The Role

We are looking for a 10x engineer who treats AI coding tools — specifically Claude Code — as a core part of their workflow, not an occasional novelty. You will own the entire technical execution of VibeMA: architecture, backend, integrations, AI agents, infrastructure, and coordination with our external agency.

This is not a role for someone who needs a fully-specced ticket before writing a line of code.

You will read the PRD, ask the right questions, make smart tradeoffs, and ship. You will know when to build and when to leverage existing tools.

What you’ll own in the first 4 months

  • End-to-end backend: FastAPI, PostgreSQL (Supabase), Redis, Celery
  • 4 platform integrations: Google Ads, Meta Ads, GA4, HubSpot (OAuth, sync, transformation)
  • Claude AI agent system: Data Interpreter, Reporting, Alert, and Optimization agents
  • Slack bot: event handling, Block Kit formatting, slash commands, interactive buttons (Slack Bolt)
  • React read-only dashboard (Next.js 14, Tailwind, Recharts)
  • Multi-tenant architecture with Row-Level Security and client data isolation
  • Infra and DevOps: Railway (MVP) → AWS migration path, CI/CD, monitoring (Sentry, Datadog)
  • Direction and quality oversight of the external development agency

What We’re Looking For

Non-negotiables

  • You actively use Claude Code, Cursor, or equivalent AI coding tools in your daily workflow and can point to meaningful productivity gains from doing so
  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience
  • Strong Python backend development (FastAPI or equivalent)
  • Experience building and shipping production APIs at scale
  • You have owned the full lifecycle of at least one product: architecture through deployment
  • You are comfortable reading a detailed PRD and making good technical decisions independently
  • US-based and available for overlap with Pacific Time (core hours 10am–2pm PT) Highly Valued
  • Experience building LLM-powered applications or AI agents (Anthropic, OpenAI, LangChain, etc.)
  • Prior work with marketing platform APIs: Google Ads, Meta Marketing API, GA4, HubSpot
  • Slack app development using Slack Bolt
  • React / Next.js frontend development (TypeScript, Tailwind)
  • Multi-tenant SaaS architecture (RLS, data isolation, role-based access)
  • Experience at an early-stage startup (≤5 people) or as a founding engineer
  • Knowledge of Celery, Redis, async Python (asyncpg, SQLAlchemy async)

What We Don’t Need

  • A specialist who only does backend OR frontend — this role needs range
  • Someone who needs a large team to be effective
  • Someone who treats AI coding tools as optional or experimental

How You’ll Work

You will report directly to the founder, with tight collaboration on product decisions. The external agency handles defined, well-scoped execution tasks — you set the architecture, review their output, and own the critical path.

We use Claude Code aggressively. We expect you to as well. The goal is that one strong engineer, paired with the right AI tooling and a supporting agency, can do what used to require a team of five. If that sounds exciting rather than unsettling, you’re probably the right fit.

We ship in focused sprints, communicate async-first (Slack), and do a weekly sync to align on priorities. There is no bureaucracy. Decisions get made fast.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary: $180,000 – $220,000 depending on experience
  • Meaningful early-stage equity (details discussed in process)
  • Fully remote — work from anywhere in the US
  • Flexible hours with core overlap window (10am–2pm PT)
  • Direct access to and influence over product direction
  • Hardware stipend for your setup
